After years and years of trial, 35-year-old Mothibedi Lekobe has finally dropped a sizzling single titled Thabo ya Letsatsi.

It is obvious that the Matsiloje native’s long wait for his break was worth it, as he has managed to come up with a fantastic song that is poised to earn him praises.

In the song, Lekobe features house kwasa sensation Mingo Touch, Wedu and Nchegeti Chilinde.

The motswako song was produced by Chilinde but was mixed and mastered by Taboka Jazzman. “Well I have been in the music industry for a very long time and it was tough to penetrate even though I had good songs.

In 2017 I managed an artiste called Albee B, who did well, and I started to work with DJ Harrycane. But I couldn’t get the break I deserved,” said Lekobe. Lekobe also said he then worked on a single called Senkhatele, which loosely translates to mean ‘I'm Tired’ in Zulu language. He explained that while the song was rotating on Btv, it never got him where he wanted to be.

He explained that at one point, he recorded a full album titled, ‘Ke a Lesotho’ but could not release it. Instead, he went on to drop a single called ‘Get Rich’ featuring Mingo and O Khan. While the road ahead appeared tougher and gloomier, Lekobe persisted and told himself that giving up was not an option. In October 2021 I checked my producer and we worked on something.

I had a dream list for people to feature but only one person turned us down. I then roped in Wedu. I engaged Jazzman to mix and master the song, which he did a good job,” he added. Lekobe said ever since its release, the single has proven to be a hit, enjoying airplay across local radio stations. “It is a big tune now I will say it's in top three and it's doing well.

I can also see that people have started to take notice of the brand Lekobe. I have also received endless requests for the song,” he said. The talented rapper thanked God for this moment of success, and said had it not been for his faith, he could have given up along the way as he was depressed at some point when things were not working out for him.

He said prayer has kept him going. He explained that he was inspired by her grandmother’s story when she had to feed a calf porridge after the death of its mother until it was fully grown and gave her a herd.

The story gave him hope hence the name of the single Thabo ya Letsatsi. Lekobe stated that the single is also a build up to his upcoming album, which is scheduled for release by end of August.
