Following a successful first edition last year, which brought local bakers together under one roof, Len Bakeries will host another event, Bakers Affair 2023. The event is scheduled for December 9, 2023 at the Bluetree Golf Gardens in Gaborone.

Len Bakeries is a Motswana-founded company that makes bakery and associated products. In an interview with Arts&Culture, Len’s Bakeries founder Goitseone Lenyatso said the second edition was bringing about five different and experienced bakers.

“They would be panelists and they will be discussing with other bakers, share experiences and expertise on the challenges they face in the industry and how they overcome them. This will help other bakers know how to tackle certain challenges when they come.

The vision is to see the baking industry grow beyond where it is currently. This is in support of the statutory instrument that was issued by the government in 2020 to support the local baking industry,” she said. She said the first edition was a huge success as it brought about many bakers who had a chance to network and learn from other bakers who were speakers.

She pointed out that this year’s event also provides an opportunity for local bakers to display their cakes and baked products in stalls that are sold at P300 each. She added that the stalls would display baked goods that will compete against each other. She also said the most creative will stand a chance to win an award as the Most Creative Baker of the Year. The event is open for local bakers, media, aspiring bakers and service/product sellers of bakery equipment. A standard ticket costs P150.
