The venue is traditionally the home to the Leteisi on Fleek’s sister event, the African Attire on Fleek. The event coordinator, David Letshwiti of Colourful People Entertainment, told Arts&Culture that the event was created to quell the perception among people that leteisi is only worn during cultural celebrations.
He explained that the whole idea is to make people appreciate that the garment could be worn at any given moment while those wearing it feel great about themselves.
“We believe this is going to be a very memorable one. "There is always a good feeling for events hosted in a garden and we have experience in hosting events at Bojanala Waterfront. "We are working timely with the venue owner to make sure the venue is in a good condition to host our expected number of revellers, especially the parking space,” Letshwiti said.
Furthermore, he explained that the golden circle (with makoti experience) is designated for people who come wearing leteisi in a way that resembles makoti for ladies while men are expected to wear something that resembles mogwe (groom).
“Golden Circle ticket holders have their own dedicated parking lot and it’s set in front of the stage with a limited number and the tickets for Golden Circle are almost 90% sold out,” he said. Letshwiti also explained that the general area is the most powerful area where everyone comes all out with their design style of choice and is free to experiment with different colours and types of leteisi.
He said they have introduced Backstage access but do not have a VIP section. He explained that the Backstage tickets are limited in number but give one all access including the artists' lounge. He added that the Backstage ticket sales were already at 70% adding that no tickets would be sold at the gate. “People have to buy their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
Unauthorised photographers will also not be allowed,” he said. In terms of the line-up, the show has international performers such as Lloyiso, Thabsie and Musa while the local pack includes the likes of Dr Vom, Ditiro Leero, Kertz JJohnsin, Slizer, Charma Gal, Wrust a Rock Band and DJ’s Jazz Man, 4DD, Lexx, Mekcado, Frostbite and DJ Zoski. Tickets for the event are available online as well as Liquorama Stores and Super Spars.
