The football festivities will be held at the Gabane United grounds while the music festival will be held at the Elite Pub and Grill in Gabane. Born, Tebogo Ramotsisi, Skefas BW says the event will also sensitise the community on the health issues and social ills.
“We intend to bring the concept of social clubs to the community, by engaging the youth, aspiring football players, referees, linesmen and commentators by unearthing their talents,” said the artist. “Secondly we hope to entertain the community through sports, not forgetting sensitising them on health issues when we have invited other stakeholders. Entertainment comes in all forms.
I love music because everyone can relate to it. I also know that football brings together the nation. So I wanted to bring to the people a different kind of art that incorporates sports and entertainment,” Skefas BW told Arts & Culture this weekend. Four social football clubs will be competing in the football tournament on the day.
The quartet is Saebur Social Club, Bring Da Money Social Club (Gabane), Mangwanda Plain Social Club and eXPLORERS Social Club will compete for the football honours on the day.
The organisers will be unveiling the line-up for the musical act today with Skefas BW as the headliner. The dancer-turned musician said the proceeds of the event will be used to help the less privileged in the area. “I intend to empower the orphans and disadvantaged kids. I was raised in a family that values kids because they are the future.
With this event, I intend to help a primary school boy, to help him with groceries and also school uniform,” he said. Skefas BW kick-started his career in 2009 as a dancer for the iconic Wizards before he joined Mlsesho Ka 1 from 2010-2011.
He went on to be part of Slizer’s dance group from 2011-2015 before he ventured in to a solo career as a musician. Skefas BW released his debut album in 2020, ‘Ngwao’ and has songs like My Africa Queen, which had great reception locally. Tickets for both festivities are P15 for adults and just P5 for kids.
