In a kind act for one of their own, local artists will this Saturday stage a music show to raise funds for Tjilenje Tje Ngwao member, Ngwisiwa Ntogwa who is hospitalised at the Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital. Ntogwa reportedly underwent hospitalisation following a lung-related sickness diagnosis.

He is one of the members of Tjilenje Tje Ngwao, a Hosana dance troupe from Ramokgwebana. The event, dubbed Remmogo Re ya Pele Music Festival, will be held from Saturday from 6pm-6am the following day at the Chedu Choga Community Hall in Francistown.

One of the event organisers, Dr Vom said they have realised that as artists, they face so many challenges in life but fail to assist each other when in need. He explained that most of the time they only come on board to assist once someone has already departed, which shouldn’t be the case. He said the idea is to raise funds and assist Ntogwa to seek better medical care elsewhere.

“I came up with this idea after hearing about Ntogwa’s illness. I then pleaded with my fellow colleagues in the music industry to find a way to assist him. This show is just the beginning as I feel we shouldn’t wait for someone to die and then do a tribute show. It will go a long way in helping those in need because as it is, Ntogwa needs the money for his medicals to save his life,” Dr Vom explained. Dr Vom explained that the music industry has agreed to the idea and most of the artists have confirmed that they will participate. He said the idea is that every artist will pay an entrance fee of P50 on the day. “Every artist who will perform at the show will pay an entrance fee of P50 together with their dancers and backup staff. There are other artists who already had shows lined up on the day and asked to be excused. However, they have pledged to send their contributions to the accounts details that have been provided. We have also received some from others,” he said.

He said the target is to raise over P50,000 from the show. Dr Vom stated that so far 500 artists have pledged to partake either by just paying the P50 entry fee or performing at the show. He pleaded with members of the public to attend the event in large numbers to support a good course. “This will also be an opportunity to come together to socialise and share ideas. Our lives are more important than our individual achievements,” Dr Vom added. Amongst some of the artists who will perform at the show include Dr Vom, Slizer, Jeff Matheatau, Tumza & The Big Bullets, MC Maswe & The Beauty Queens, Ramonyaku and Tjilenje Tje Mgwao to name but a few.
