The hunt for the Easter eggs is surely in Maun this year, as DC Tours lines up a fun filled Easter weekend. It is a fresh breath into the local entertainment scene as the DC Tours’ Maun Polo Affair Easter Weekend presents three dynamic events for the holiday weekend.

This is the second edition of the event and the organisers have spiced things up for the pleasure of the patrons over a three-day period.

The Maun Polo Affair All White Party will kick-start the festivities on Good Friday (March 29). It will be followed by a lifestyle event, which will be held at Lunar Garden, a venue change from the Maun Sports Complex as organisers looked for a venue to match the event theme. In addition, DC Tours’ Lepsy Molemele said the organising team was avoiding the ‘nightmare’ logistics of hosting an event at the stadium. The legendary South African kwaito group, Bongo Maffin will headline the All White Party. The group will be making their return to local shores since 2018 and will be making their debut performance in Maun.

Revellers are to be charged P150 before 4pm while the ticket price is to increase by P50 to P200 thereafter while the VIP ticket admits two people and sells at P1,500. The All White Party is to be followed by the DC Tours Derby on Saturday (March 30) at Shashe Horse Racetrack.

The event will feature all the categories of horse racing including the elite 4km race. The event is one of its kind as it brings together, fashion, sports and entertainment in one setting. The horse race is to be followed by a fashion show on the VIP marquee at the venue. To conclude what promises to be a fun-filled weekend is the WHYSO Sunday.

The urban culture event is making its debut in Maun as DC Tours and WHYSO agreed on a partnership to take the party to the tourism capital. South Africa’s most streamed Gqom DJ and producer in 2023, Dlala Thukzin, will be the headline act at the event. Tickets sell at P200, while a P250 package comes with a complimentary six pack of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage and a table of four costs P2000.

“Maun Polo Affair is a lifestyle weekend that particularly celebrates Maun as a tourist destination. You should note that this marks the 21st horse race in Maun. It is a norm to have us host this glamorous annual event in Maun and we have developed it into a fashion parade, where people come dressed for the occasion. It is a given that the line-up is not complete and is about to get more exciting,” Molemele said. He further promised a much bigger event this year on the back of hosting the inaugural event last year with limited time to prepare.
