Botswana's ambitious plan to host Miss World 2026 is coming together, according to Miss Botswana director Benjamin Raletsatsi, after they received a proposal to host.

Speaking to Mmegionline on the sidelines of the Miss Botswana press briefing on Thursday, he stated that everything is looking up for them after losing the chance previously. Raletsatsi told the media in November last year that they planned to host Miss World 2026 in honour of Botswana's 60th year of independence. At the time, he said it would cost about P130 million to organise the finals. Giving a status report on the bid, he revealed that things are improving. “We are currently crossing the t’s and c’s. You know until you have signed it you cannot say 100% you have it,” Raletsatsi shared. He emphasised that although the offer is on the table, they are yet to conclude the contract. “We are back and forth with the final negotiations to finalise the agreement,” Raletsatsi added. He highlighted that he hopes that nothing jinxes the negotiations so that they land the deal and Botswana will get to host the number one international pageant. “We hope nothing derails our efforts and we get the deal,” he said.
