Miss World South Africa, Zoalize Van Rensburg, is in Botswana to grace the highly anticipated crowning ceremony of Miss Botswana 2025 at an event set to take place tomorrow.

In an interview with Arts & Culture, Miss World South Africa underscored strong ties that exist between her country and Botswana especially in the pageantry space.

She spoke highly of the relationship between the two nations highlighting that it goes all the way back with queens from Botswana having had graced their crowning ceremonies too. “Our relationship with Botswana is a special one, one that we cherish hence why I am here today. I mean Miss Botswana graced our crowning ceremony and this speaks how big our relationship is,” enthused Van Rensburg. During the interview, Miss World South Africa said couldn’t wait for the event and see who will be the lucky winner on the day. Speaking about the beauty industry in Botswana, Van Rensburg stated that the country boasts of enormous talent taking an inspiration from Lesego Chombo who is now a Cabinet minister and Specially Elected Member of Parliament. “Botswana has such a great talent in pageantry and the beauty industry. I have managed to interact with Chombo before and I have to say ‘what a great human being she is’ and look what she has achieved. Anicia too is one of a kind,” she said.

For her part, Miss World Botswana Anicia Gaothusi said that it was highly imperative to have international queens gracing crowning ceremonies in Botswana. “It is such a great honor for Miss World South Africa to join us for the crowning ceremony of Miss Botswana 2025 and this what we always advocate for when we talk about the beauty industry having an impact and unifying people,” Gaothusi said. As the two queens prepare for the Miss World competition in one month’s time, they stated that their relationship will take them further when they descend on India. “As we are going to compete in Miss World, it is not going to be about South Africa, but it is going to be about the whole of Africa. I will not just be representing my country but our continent,” Van Rensburg said. Gaothusi shared the same sentiments with Van Rensburg. “I mean how many years has it been that Africa has not brought the crown home. So we have to work together towards achieving that for Africa. We do not have to be foes because of the competition, whoever wins is a win for all us,” she said.

The crowning ceremony of Miss Botswana 2025 will take place tomorrow at the GICC from 5pm
