More Excellence at MO’s

More Excellence at MO’s
More Excellence at MO’s

Since Mo’s Table opened its doors in December 2021, there have been two very consistent narratives about the establishment.

Firstly, that the experience and service is second to none, and what has been very impressive is that they are giving franchises a run for their money simply by being authentic in their craft.

Secondly, it’s a unanimous appreciation that it’s worth every thebe spent on the food. Restaurant owner Mo is to be acknowledged for this all. He has opened and operated and or been the GM for many restaurants/clubs in Botswana.

It is evident he is a great host with years of experience in this industry. Throughout my visit he was on the floor, in the kitchen and watching the bar, alongside his very gracious wife Mohumi, who at every turn would come check up on us and other patrons. Refreshing to see an owner that's very hands on and invested in their business, more especially in the service sector, it really goes a long way.

At Mo's they believe in team work and growing their team. The staff was always available, pleasant and were very helpful. I love any restaurant where the attendant is actually invested in your experience.

This all contributes to the public who have rallied behind Mo and have moved from the first location to Fairscape Precinct with him and his team. Patrons vouch that they will move with Mo’s wherever they go! Maloba I attended my cousins 40th at Mo’s. It was a great ambiance and the team had set up a birthday backdrop, which transformed the space we occupied.

I had some prawns to nibble on that day and they were beautifully grilled, buttery, pink and cooked to perfection. I had a look through their menu before that time and I was a bit surprised as it’s not a huge menu, but I loved the variety. Something for everyone’s taste and you can’t get bored, as with each visit, you can look forward to trying something new. It was pleasantly surprising to find out some of the items they serve that aren’t on the menu, i.e. in the mornings they serve super affordable “popular” breakfast and tea foods like magwinya, phapata, tlhako and mokwetjepe. This is making these everyday foods conveniently available to the immediate office blocks and close by offices in the Fairscape vicinity, who would alternatively have to travel a bit to the closest Mma-Seapei. I arrived a little hungry and I am sure glad I was. For starters, my guest and I shared some Grilled Cajun Calamari over some very heavy conversations. We kept circling back to the calamari.

It was so good. They were not chewy, the seasoning was perfect, the Cajun undertones were subtle but for me were the star of the dish. The lemon and sauce complemented the seafood perfectly.

I personally feel like the starter deserves to come in a full portion. It was that good! The space is industrial chic and is warm and welcoming. I believe just after 12 noon was when it started getting busy, with patrons from companies from within the business proximity and others coming from outside. Lunch meetings, lunch dates, solo dates, a group of eight came in, and by the time it hit 1315hrs there was almost no seating available inside.

The spot is graced by industry folk as well as anyone looking for a great meal with an experience to match. Mo’s is welcoming to all. With a local playlist on rotation, lunch service was amazing. My better half asked me to order for him whilst he attended other business, so I got him the Big Mo's burger to go.

When I asked him how it was he said to me; First and foremost, the only words that could fairly describe this tower of phenomenal excellence are that; it is one of the greatest burgers in BW, dare I say Africa, dare I say the world....wow!! Just wow!! Secondly, only order this monster if you're very hungry or you're obviously a burger enthusiast, which my husband is entirely.

Stacked up and presenting like one of the wonders of the world, Big Mo's burger is an ensemble of two beautifully prepared patties, generous back bacon slices (more like sheets, lol), gherkins/sliced pickles, lettuce, onions, mushrooms in a sauce and cheese.

Di.Pa.La.Me.Tse ko ga Mo's Table guys!!!! The serving of fries is also generous and it's very thoughtful of the chef to slice their potatoes at a side angle, giving patrons more potatoes to bite into. Mpa Tsii! What a burger.

What a meal. I ordered Cabonara and it lacked nothing as it was creamy with enough bacon to go around. The only thing missing was some homemade bread to mop up my plate. Nkabo ke kopile phaphatha... My guest ordered herself a medium steak with chips and side salad. I don’t eat red meat but it had me salivating as it passed in front of me as they served her.

She is not big on mushroom sauce, which I heard her share a comment on, but her steak, she enjoyed in silence. The loud type silence! The type that speaks volumes. Dessert was Hummingbird Cake.

Beautifully arranged, soft sponge, different tones and textures. The malva pudding double portion with custard or ice cream was also exceptional and these were perfect to top off our phenomenal meals.

Mo’s opens Monday to Friday till 2230hrs and on weekends till 0000hrs with resident DJs Kyno of BTS and Traxx playing great music to set the mood for sundowners, which include non alcoholic beers/ciders and wines, another great intentional effort to be inclusive.
