To open this year's entertainment shows, the well-liked No Half Time Party picnic will be back on January 21, 2022 at the Lobatse Plantation.

Organisers of the once small-time house party, which turned into a popular major crowd-pulling event in Lobatse, have said this year’s session is dedicated to the nurses and other healthcare givers who did not get a chance to go for holidays during the festive holidays due to work commitments.

The founding organiser of No Half Time Party, Juice Polelo said while they have never had any formal sponsorship, this time around they have managed to stage a successful event year in and out.

He attributed this success to the loyal clientele which never misses their event. He recalled that the event started as a small chill session, with the majority of its patrons as health workers based in Lobatse.

“But the event has grown over the years after we realised its potential and turned it commercial without any sponsor. We have grown and now receive big crowds at our event to be one of the popular season openers around.

We call upon the nurses and everyone else who did not get a chance to enjoy the festive holidays due to work commitments to come relax with us,” said Polelo. Polelo appealed to potential sponsors to come on board as it would go a long way in contributing to the social emancipation of the people of Lobatse. He said for this year’s event, they have received financial support from Khumo BoerGoats, stud breeders of Boergoats based in Paje.

He explained that the event has also helped to bring vibrancy to the town of Lobatse and accorded upcoming Deejays from the town the opportunity to showcase their talent alongside seasoned ones. He added that they have decided to keep the line-up 100% local as they believe in the local talent. Although he said the line-up is yet to be finalized.

Among those that are certain to grace the event include Chef Gustos, DJ Lefatshe, DJ Shaboo, DJ Jikaboy, DJ Bunny and DJ Sly. The event’s MC on the day is T.H.A.B.O.

Polelo appreciated artists who perform at their event even though they don’t really get much unlike at other events. Therefore, he also appealed to the leadership of the town to also lend a hand as this picnic has the potential to create employment and business opportunities for the residents. “We are also doing this for the township of Lobatse.

So we would like to see the leadership being involved and assisting us to grow this event,” he said. Meanwhile, Polelo said the event will run from 10am until 6am the following day and the entrance fee is P150.

Be careful on the road this festive season

Over the past weekend in Greater Gaborone, four people tragically lost their lives in separate accidents, a stark reminder of how vulnerable we are on the roads, especially during this busy time of year. The accidents, which claimed the lives of three pedestrians and one driver, paint a grim picture of the dangers faced by everyone on the road, not just motorists but also pedestrians. In one case, a young man was fatally struck by a truck whilst...
