Local gospel artist, Gaone Selebo, has been nominated for the Ingoma Best Gospel Promoter Awards in South Africa after being nominated for the awards last year.

The Awards Ceremony will be on August 31, 2024 . Selebo, who is also a promoter, has seen her music career glitter as she continues to fly high on the international stage. “I got an Award last year for Best Promoter in SA for the Ukhonukamva Music Awards. This year again I got nominated for Ingoma Awards for Best Gospel Promoter in Polokwane SA alongside Nandipha Jezile and Apostle Rose Mokoena,” Selebo told Arts&Culture. She is currently working as a host of a programme called Dawn of Praise on Mabopane Rise Radio Pretoria. “I have been recognised internationally. I won an award last year in South Africa for Best Promoter and that alone opened more doors for me, especially in SA and Lesotho. My music is enjoying airplay in different radio stations in SA like Motsweding FM, Tshwane FM, Incredible Radio, Thy Kingdom Radio, Mabopane Rise Radio etc.

I have been featured in Soth African magazines like The Daily Sun, Sista Bosso, Darkie, and Great Times. Locally, I have been featured in magazines like Celebrity World, Prowess, local radio stations and newspapers,” she said proudly. Furthermore, she said she wants to see her company, Lady G Promotions, open more branches around the country in the next five years. She also takes pride in having shared the stage with the legendary Benjamin Dube, Sello Malete and William Sejake. Selebo currently has two albums and two videos and looking forward to releasing the third video in August. As an artist, she said she sometimes fails to deliver her projects on time because of some financial challenges. She added that gospel music is not receiving enough support in Botswana like other genres. She explained that gospel artists even struggle to sell their music. However, she said that has not dented her spirit as she continues to follow her dream and passion. She said she was nominated for the Best Music Video award during the Botswana Annual Gospel Awards 2017 but did not win. “My advice to aspiring artists is to work hard, focus and show a lot of commitment to their crafts. They should also invite God in everything they do,” she added.
