Speaking to MmegiOnline, he said the song is basically about untapped, but attainable love.
"I imagined a story of how I'd react if I found out somehow that the love I was looking for is right next to me, in someone I'd known, but probably dismissed in the past. It could even be someone I was casually intimate with for some time, but I didn't realize they were serious about me, probably because I was either dismissive, "hard of hearing", or just friend- zoned," he said.
He explained that the song is certainly open for interpretation to the listener in appreciation of highlighting the fact that sometimes what one is looking for is right under their nose and that people don't always fall in love at the same time and it is not a given or love at first sight.
"It reminds us that sometimes we don't have to search far and to remind ourselves that if we find someone that is always there for us, intimately or not, but consistently, and can share just about anything without any great or reservation is probably the love that we've been looking for and we should hold on tight to them," he added.
The talented performer said his plan is to release several music during the year.
"There are no plans to drop an album just yet. (I'm) just enjoying sharing facets of my thoughts through different songs at the moment, but not ruling or the possibility of converging into an album," he said.
He said the song is the first of a series of those thoughts in 2023.
He said he wants to explore different ways of releasing music, which have not been hugely tapped into by the jazz fraternity. He said jazz artists should be able to have fun with it and adapt to how other artists from other genres are doing it locally, and all over the world.
"It's exciting to be able to tap into these sub-markets and releasing singles is a huge part of that. It's not anything new, but certainly something new for us in the field of afro-jazz. It goes without saying though that our jazz enthusiasts and collectors are more prone to experience a whole "book" or "story" of the musician's journey through albums mostly as opposed to just chapters," he said.
He said the process of making music has become more expensive, while after releasing an album, a lot of songs don't really see the light of day and are forgotten with only one or two songs from the album becoming popular and receiving airplay.
This, he said is unfair on the artist who would have invested so much in the process and resources leading up to the production of that album.
Born Tumediso Loeto, the singer has a rich catalog of music that has given his fans cheerful memories over the years. It remains to be seen if the new offering has what it takes to remind his followers of the talent that he is.
