Solace In Affliction is a new book written by a Motswana author, Segakweng Madisa-Quarshie and published locally by AfroShapers. The 140-page book was launched on November 4, 2023.

Through this offering, Madisa-Quarshie shares her personal experience to encourage people that by having faith in God, we can rise above our circumstances.

Her new book, Solace In Affliction, is a reflection that one finds strength in places they least expect.

It also goes on to affirm to the reader that one should never give up because when you think all hope is gone, that is when it is restored.

The author’s ability to capture intricate emotions and past experiences makes this book a compelling read for anyone who has faced the unexpected twists and turns of life. Whether you are a parent, a dreamer, or someone navigating unpredictable currents of life, this book is a reminder that even in the face of the unforeseen, the human spirit has an uncanny ability to shine brightly.

Solace In Affliction is a way in which the author, shares with the reader how she found comfort in a time of sadness and pain and expresses her thoughts and emotions by penning this personal read.

The book aims to inspire a perspective shift, encouraging individuals to find solace even in the midst of affliction. To be honest, to get to the true definition of what Madisa-Quarshie is saying requires one to give their life to Jesus Christ and totally be sold out to Him because in Him we find rest and we find peace that surpasses all understanding.

In an interview with Arts&Culture, Madisa-Quarshie said she plans to have a book tour and signing session around the country, as well as having it available online and via more bookshops around Botswana.

“This is a book that people who go through heartbreaking situations can relate to and I want readers to always look at the positive aspects amidst adversity and difficult situations,’’ stated Madisa-Quarshie.

Madisa-Quarshie’s elaboration on why she wrote the book was more about finding hope, being resilient and thankful even in challenging circumstances.

“For aspiring writers, my advice is to be authentic and persistent. Embrace your unique voice, stay committed to your story and trust the transformative impact it can have on both yourself and others,” said Madisa-Quarshie offering words of encouragement. Born in Morwa, Madisa-Quarshie is a writer with a deep passion for arts and sports. She has demonstrated her love for the arts from a tender age by participating in drama. In addition to her pursuits, her passion for sharing biblical insights resonates deeply with those who seek her guidance.
