The glitz and glamour of the creative industry descended upon the city last Sunday as the highly anticipated Comfy Fashion Show took place at the Molapo Showcase Piazza.

The event marked its third edition and one-year anniversary. The event, a fusion of fashion, music and visual arts, showcased the latest trends from renowned designers and artists, leaving attendees in awe with its stunning display of creations and style.

The show also served as a platform for emerging talent to shine. Local designers were given an opportunity to showcase their innovative creations. The runway was adorned with vibrant colours and intricate designs, setting the stage for a truly mesmerising experience.

Models gracefully strutted down the catwalk, donning exquisite garments that pushed boundaries and challenged conventional fashion norms. From Vint-line couture to ready-to-wear Valerie Creations and Alt Filter, each ensemble told a unique story, captivating the audience’s attention. This inclusion highlighted their skills and celebrated diversity within the fashion community.

Fashion enthusiasts from all walks of life gathered under one roof to witness this spectacle. The atmosphere was electric, with whispers of excitement filling the air as each new look made its debut on stage. Attendees were left inspired by the boldness and originality displayed throughout the evening. Beyond being a mere display of clothing, the fashion show symbolised much more. It represented self-expression and individuality serving as a reminder that fashion is an art that allows communication without uttering a single word.

The night was not only just about the clothes, it also showcased an array of talented artists from various genres, making it a truly unforgettable experience. The night began with a captivating performance from Exotic and the band. One of the highlights of the show was a surprise collaboration between the mesmerising Motswafere and Nicole Martinez, who performed her hit song ‘Kgomo tsa Magadi’ from her album transporting the audience to another realm with their soulful melodies. It was evident that these musicians were not only masters of their craft but also passionate about pushing boundaries and creating something extraordinary. The event also provided a platform for emerging talent to showcase their skills.

A young dancer named Reitumetse says that the show gave her a chance to gain exposure and recognition for her talent. In an interview with Arts & Culture, the event organiser Moletedi Ntseme alluded that it is important to work with local artists. ‘’We get to learn from their creativity; it’s like looking outside the box, what influences us, comes off like a market research,” he said. Ntseme, who is also a fashion designer, said his love for design was family rooted and he fully introduced himself to the industry in 2021. Furthermore, he stated that his next move is to take his fashion line and other local designers to the international market such as Paris Fashion Week. ”It is very insightful to see that Botswana has talent that can compete in the international space,” he concluded.

Is our screening adequate?

Sadly, we live in a society that seems to be losing its moral fibre by the day. When parents take their children to a boarding school they do so to give them a brighter future, not to have some dirty paedophilic predator to prey on them. Sex orientation is a touchy subject and for young minds to be sexualised at a young age by a grown man perpetrating harm on them by cutting through their sphincter muscle to penetrate their anal canal. Anyone can...
