Newcomer, Thato Tladi is proving to be one of the hottest stars Botswana has ever unleashed after taking the music industry by storm with his latest release titled ‘Wena’.

The single, which was released a fortnight ago, has become an instant hit, and it is already making waves and dominating local radio stations' play lists captivating the music fanatics.

In an interview with Arts & Culture, Thato Tladi revealed that he is one person who believes in "love and butterflies". Therefore, his plan is to spread love to people through his music such as his single, ‘Wena’. “I am a big fan of love and romance and me writing this song was more like me affirming that and giving all the love birds out there something to listen to,” he explained.

‘Wena’ taps on the Amapiano wave. “’Wena’ is a beautiful body of art, which falls under private piano and the song itself is about love shared between people who are in an intimate relationship,” Thato Tladi said. Additionally, the Morwa native explained that ‘Wena’ is more of a chant and a message from a lover to the significant other expressing their deep emotions. “What if I told you, what if I hold your hand, what if I kissed you, what if I stare into your eyes,” he sings in one of the verses.

The young musician said he is ready to take over the industry and dominate for years to come. “The future holds infinite possibilities for me as a creative and I want to believe ‘Wena’ is not going to be the last offering as more is to come. I am planning to drop an EP or album in the near future. But I will keep releasing singles whilst still working on the album or EP," he added. Despite his late entrance in the music scene, Thato Tladi said he has always known he has a great talent. He explained that he, however, chose not to tap into this talent and do it commercially. “I started music during my childhood and to be precise at Sunday School but it then became a dormant aspect of me,” he revealed.

However the young upcoming artist revealed that things changed when he started doing covers for songs in social media where producers reached out to him. “I then started out at the University of Botswana where I started doing covers and this is when people like B.O 6eatz recognised me,” he exclaimed. Now after being approached by B.O 6eatz, the two have a hit and look on to serve the music fanatics with more great music.
