Trans Cash and Carry has given popular music festival, Born and Raised (BnR) a boost with a sponsorship of over P1 million towards the event.

The sponsorship was unveiled at a press conference Tuesday evening, with Trans named as the premium sponsor for the annual festive show held at the Serowe Sports Complex. This year’s edition will be held on December 21. The two parties also signed a memorandum of agreement, with the organisers emaphasising that the sponsorship will cover more than 90% of the event’s expenses.

Trans Group Head of Marketing and Communications, Thapelo Mmono, said their partnership with BnR is a celebration of the creativity and resilience shown by young people who are working hard for the future of the creative industry. She added they also recognise the hardwork of the festival organisers.

“We have seen or had a lot of musicians who wanted to try something and then in a year or so it’s not working out and we understand that it might be due to lack of financial support because it’s in no way a small task to plan such an event, so we want to recognise their commitment and efforts,” Mmono said. . “We have agreed with BnR not to disclose the actual amount or support we are bringing to the table but I’m sure they are smiling. That’s why Goaba was saying this year’s VIP is going to be the first of its kind.”

One of the event’s organisers, Goaba Mojakgomo said they would like this year’s event to be memorable, especially for VIP ticket holders.

“At the VIP, the setup is going to be what we are not accustomed to in Botswana. The setup that is going to be constructed at the VIP is going to be the first we have ever experienced in Botswana. “This is because we are trying to redeem ourselves for what we have been giving you previously. We are going to switch it up. In fact this is what we are trying to do; we are trying to stay ahead of the game,” Mojakgomo said. The highly anticipated festival will feature South African artists such as Kelvin Momo, Sun-El Musician, Simmy, Morda, Revolution and Oscar Mbo. Artists such as Franco, Dr Vom and Juu Matere lead local musicians who will perform at the festival. Tickets for the festival are already selling at different outlets across the country.
