Tshwaragano Ya Koma, a collaboration album by 15 local veteran musicians will finally be launched on July 27 at Notwane Lifestyle Club in Gaborone.

The album was recorded in 2022 and released in 2023. In an interview with the founder and director of Mosu Mantsie 585 Studios, Rapula Mhlanga, he said Tshwaragano Ya Koma is a collaboration initiative by Batswana artists. He further pointed out that the project is aimed at uniting these elderly musicians so that they benefit as an entity. “The project is one of Mosu Mantsie 585 Studios’ social responsibility music recordings aimed towards the betterment of the performing arts space. We come up with tailor-cut projects aimed at bringing artists together like the Setswana saying Moroto wa esi ga o ele. The launch of Tshwaragano Ya Koma album has long been overdue and we were literally pushed by Motswana based in New Zealand, Ras Judah, who encouraged us to try our level best and not fear the unknown.

He emphasised that he will support the launch with all his might,” Mhlanga explained. He further said Ras Judah contributed a song to Tshwaragano Ya Koma album, adding that their songs are receiving fair airplay on local radio stations. He added that their target audience is all Batswana who really love live music saying the artists featured in the album attest to the fact that it will be a love band music revival. He further pointed out that Tshwaragano Ya Koma boasts of 15 artists. He said performances during the launch will feature musicians such as Mpho Loeto and Caxton Senyatso. Artists featured on the album will also perform during the two-hour concert. He stated that after the concert, about five selected artists from the team will follow with individual sets to spice up the night. Mlhanga added that Stepping Razor, Botswana’s only reggae group would be the guest band. The band will perform together for the first time after a long time. He said the original reggae band artists would grace the event. “Food and beverages will be sold by our host Notwane Lifestyle Club. Tight security will be provided to safeguard our fans, and their cars,” he said.

Mhlanga said it was difficult to organise events of this nature, as a lot of resources are needed for perfect execution. He explained that they have engaged an event management company, Calabash Entertainment, to execute the show. He appealed for sponsorship to make the event the best possible. “The next slot of Tshwaragano Ya Koma concert will follow next year at another venue possibly out of Gaborone. We are pleading with Batswana to come witness this great concert celebrating togetherness, live music revival and different genres during that night. P100 will be the ticket price,” he said.
