Local comedian-cum-rapper, William Last KRM is targeting more awards nominations in South Africa after receiving his South African Hip Hop Awards (SAHHAs) Best International Act award this week.

The Tinto hitmaker won the gong following a breakthrough album that took the music scene by storm in 2020. He was nominated alongside top artists such as Kanye West of the USA, Drake (Canada) Little Simz (UK) and Sarkode of Ghana when the SAHHAs made their return in 2021. William Last KRM won the award after garnering more votes than the rest.

After receiving the award Monday, the rapper posted a short video clip on his Facebook page where he appreciated SAHHAs for his nomination.

“I just want to say a big shout out to the South African Hip Hop Awards. Thank you for the award and I got the present as well. I will lock myself in the bathroom and slaughter them. Thank you so much for motivating the young ones and everybody coming up. Next time when you nominate me don’t just nominate me for the Best International Award, nominate me for other things as well, other things,” said the ecstatic William last KRM.

The win clearly shows that William Last KRM is not done yet and wants to win more SAHHAs. William Last KRM had a successful 2021. Just before he got nominated for the SAHHAs, he had just scooped Best Newcomer award during the Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) awards. In total, Motsetserepa as he is also called in the music scene, had received 10 awards; five BOMUs and five for the Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAS).

For the YAMAs, he was nominated in categories of Best Hip Hop award, Best Social Media award, People’s Choice Artist of the Year award, Best Male Single award and Song of The Year award. As for the BOMU awards, he was nominated in categories of Best New Comer, Best Hip Hop, Best Male, Album of the Year and Song of the Year.

The artiste, whose real name is Bofelo William Molebatsi is one of the most followed public figures on social media in Botswana. The artiste has been staying between South Africa and Botswana, something that has helped enhance his brand.
