For a girl of her age, Kimberly Matheakgomo, a 10-year-old model, dancer, actress and lifestyle influencer, has achieved a lot for herself thus making her the most influential child in Botswana.

This very talented young girl was recently awarded the Young Woman Of The Year Award 2023. But that is not all as she also has multiple accolades to her name.

This includes the Amazing Youth Award, Bringing Fame and Honour to the Country and International Amazing Kids Award 2023 which was held in Thailand. She told Arts & Culture that being awarded the Young Woman of The Year has inspired and motivated her to do even more.

“To me, this award signifies inspiration, it recognises a young woman who inspires other young women and ignites passion and drives in them. It recognises the dues that we pay.

Winning this award has opened opportunities for me and it has also boosted my confidence and self-perception,” she explained. Furthermore, she explained that her passion for her purpose was what keeps her going. She added that she knew where she was headed adding that she was therefore determined that every day she had to metamorphosise into the image of her purpose.

This young magnificent girl added that she understood and valued her dreams enough to pay in their dues. “So far, I have also won a Dance Award 2023, the Amazing Youth Award, Bringing Fame And Honour To The Country and International Amazing Kids Award 2023 which was held in Thailand,” she said.

Despite so many achievements for her at her age, Matheakgomo says she goes through everyday struggles. She said she found it difficult juggling between her school work and her work due to limited time. She, however, said she tried to find a balance between the two because education was as important as the creative arts.

The other challenge she had was a lack of finances for her wardrobe, trips and any other thing she might need and also for her school work materials. Fortunately for her, Dawn Bell Academy pulled through for her by sponsoring her for a full-year scholarship at the Academy with school fees taken care of. Moreover, she pointed out that after the Amazing Youth Award she bagged in Thailand this year, she has been fixating on philanthropic work. She added that she recently donated shoes and t-shirts to the underprivileged children of Monwane Primary School.

Matheakgomo added that she was in the process of identifying underprivileged children she would be donating to. “This is also a call for sponsors to partner with me in this event. I believe that if you are in a position to help you should help and your help goes a long way than you may realise. My advice to my fellow girls and boys is that they should dream big but not just that, they should give their dreams wings.

Success is for the one who pays their dues,” she said. For all the awards she has won, Matheakgomo explained that there was no monetary price. She said for her, it was never about the prize nor the money attached to the award. She said it was recognition for the hard work that she does as a young person that matters the most.
