Jwaneng police are investigating a tragic and fatal accident in which a 17-year-old boy accidentally shot his 24-year-old sister.

Confirming the matter, Jwaneng Police Station commander, Superintendent Thuso Basuti said the shooting incident occurred on Tuesday evening at around 8pm.

Basuti said the duo’s uncle had just arrived from the cattle post with his loaded shotgun.

“The tragic accident occurred when the teenage boy was busy helping his uncle offload things from the car. His uncle had put the shotgun on top of the couch facing the deceased who was in the living room watching television. We do not know what happened when the teenage boy was trying to lift the gun as he accidentally shot his sister to death,” he said.
