BCP calls on Khama to tackle power and water crisis

Botswana Congress Party (BCP) leader Dumelang Saleshando has called on President Ian Khama to lead in tackling the energy and water crises.

Speaking during a press conference yesterday, Saleshando said Khama must address the nation on the crisis and set up an ‘Emergency National Steering Committee’ comprising stakeholders such as the business community, labour movement as well as international agencies with experience in the power sector, for them to assist in formulating a turnaround strategy.

Saleshando also urged government to establish a fund that would assist households that wish to immediately convert to solar energy so as to reduce pressure on the national grid.
