FRANCISTOWN: Police are on the hunt for the motorist who caused the death of a pedestrian following a hit-and-run near Mochudi in the Bokaa area.

According to Deputy Divisional Traffic Officer South Central, Boiki Mojalemotho, the incident occurred early morning on June 3. He said the motorist hit a man who was strolling alongside the road and fled the scene.

“The driver failed to stop at the scene. We're still looking for the driver because there were witnesses to the accident,” he added. As a result, Mojalemotho asked the driver to hand himself or herself to the police.

Additionally, he said the man had significant head injuries and was rushed to Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital in Mochudi, where he was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the deputy divisional traffic officer for South Central has stated that another collision occurred on the same day near Mogoditshane along the A10 Road (Gaborone to Kanye route).

He stated that the collision happened at night and involved a Toyota Swift. Mojalemotho revealed that the driver of the Toyota Swift struck a 25-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the road from north to south. He said the woman sustained a broken leg and is still receiving treatment at Princess Marina Referral Hospital.
