Murder Suspect Remanded

FRANCISTOWN: A 51-year old retired engineer suspected of gunning down his girlfriend early this month was on Thursday remanded by Francistown Magistrate Dumisani Basupi.

Kennedy Moris of Kgosing ward in Maun will appear again in a fortnight for a routine mention. He was not asked to plead to the single count of murder as the lower court does not have the jurisdiction. Earlier on, defence lawyer Kesegofetse Molosiwa attempted to apply for the alleged murderer to be quickly committed to the High Court.

Molosiwa said the defence wanted to apply for bail. Basupi said nothing stops the defence from applying for bail well before committal to the High Court.
