A 37-year-old woman died on the spot after the VW car she was travelling in as a passenger collided with a Toyota Surf at Block 7 traffic lights on Sunday early morning in Francistown.

Kutlwano Police Station Commander, Superintendent Neo Serumola told The Monitor that the accident occurred around 1:30am. He further stated that the deceased was in the company of another woman who was the driver.

The two were from the town centre when the accident occurred when they were taking a turn towards Gerald Estate. “She (the driver) sustained minor injuries and was treated and released the same morning.

Their car collided with a Toyota Surf that was heading north from Tonota side. Investigations are ongoing to locate the driver of the Toyota Surf who fled the accident scene,” Serumola said.

Meanwhile, Serumola revealed they are investigating another accident in which a Honda Fit vehicle collided with a Toyota Altezza in Phase 4 Industrial, Francistown on Saturday night. “Both cars had only the drivers on board and both were only complaining of body pains and were treated and released the same night,” Serumola said.
