Police nab robbery suspect, four others still on the loose

PRESS STATEMENT:A Motswana man, Bakang Sebina aged 28 of Gaborone appeared before Nata Magistrate Court today (24/10/2022) for robbery.

The accused was arrested in Gaborone on 18/10/2022 and a total amount of USD1 620.00, ZAR32 000.00 and P5413.00 suspected to be proceeds of crime was recovered from him.

The accused and four others who are still at large are suspected to have attacked security guards at Pelican Lodge in Nata, last week Monday (17/10/2022). The quintet is reported to have subsequently robbed a Namibian businessman of cash amounting to USD90 000.00, ZAR 162, 000.00 and P800.00 belonging to Pelican Lodge.

Police investigations revealed that the suspects also have been on police Wanted List for Robbery and Shop Breaking and Theft that occurred in Gaborone, Mahalapye, Serowe and Maun.

The accused will appear again before Nata Magistrate Court on 08/11/2022.

Meanwhile the Police are looking for Lesego Gasewarona (also known as Tboy) of Maunatlala, Maitapiso Thuso Kgakgamatso of Maun, Kitso Sebetsa Keadumele (nicknamed Weapon) of Gaborone and Mpho Rasetena (who goes by the name RasT) also of Gaborone. The quartet are key in assisting with further investigations into the matter.
