Three Batswana men aged between 25 and 30 years were arrested on Saturday afternoon for possession of sachets containing a substance suspected to be marijuana.

Ramatlabama police pulled over a BMW vehicle along the Lobatse-Pitsane road and found the trio in possession of a refuse bag containing rolls of suspected marijuana.

Confirming the case, the commander of Ramatlabama Police Station, Superintendent Zibani Mbisana said they have seized sealed bundles of substances suspected to be marijuana.

“I cannot recall the number of the bundles because I am currently out of the office, but they are many,” he said.

“Looking at its quantity, I suspect that they might be marijuana dealers and might have an established market. It is alleged that most people purchase marijuana from South Africa to trade in Botswana.”

Furthermore, Mbisana said investigations into the matter are ongoing whilst the trio is in police custody. He said they are yet to establish its weight and street value because they have taken the substance to the laboratory for testing.
