After the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) National Youth Executive Committee (NYEC) slammed Mahalapye West Member of Parliament, David Tshere for leaking a private phone conversation between him and Minister of Health, Dr Edwin Dikoloti, Botswana National Front (BNF) youth league president, Resego Kgosidintsi says the legislator was right to do so.

Kgosidintsi said Tshere must leak all the conversations that expose incompetence. She blamed the collapse of the health sector on some members of the BDP National Youth Executive.

“An additional member of a committee owns a company which sold masks to the government at P600 a piece during the COVID-19 pandemic and they have the nerve to call people out on morality . Our parents are told to wait for their deaths at home because there are no medicines and specialists,” Kgosidintsi said in a statement.

Kgosidintsi's remarks follow a statement from the BDP NYEC calling for leadership to review Tshere's position as Chairperson of Parliamentary Committee on Health and HIV.

“The sheer guts of one senior government official to record and leak a private phone conversation between him and another government official discussing a critical issue is shocking and criminal.

To have a leader Tshere, in his position, unashamedly share and authenticate such privileged dialogue is unprincipled, deceitful and a threat to national security,” a BDP NYEC press release stated.
