BOPEU calls for more vaccine supplies and coherent rollout plan

Botswana has experienced both slow arrivals of vaccines and incoherent rollout plan amidst alarming covid19 death toll, one of the worst in the world, in relation to the country’s small population.
Intervention by teachers Unions forced Government into the plan to vaccinate teachers after their trade unions made it clear no teacher would return to the classroom unless they had been vaccinated.
The rollout plan for vaccination has itself been disorderly as people crowd at vaccination sites for hours.
BOPEU President Masego Mogwera, in an interview with Mmegi online said speedy delivery of vaccines and a sound roll out plan can halt the spiralling cases of covid deaths in the country .
She said the pandemic has also left yet another high number of survivors battling long term post covid ailments, which affect productivity, as well as the health of the individual.
