The two-day conference will bring all Zone VI countries together to deliberate on issues affecting women participation in sport. Keaikitse said the conference could not have come at the right time. She said WASBO has been quiet and the conference could trigger a great revival. "The conference will help us revamp and rebrand ourselves," she said. She cited frequent leadership changes at WASBO as something that has hampered progress in the past. Botswana host the event after initial bid winners Angola announced they were unable to do so.
Participants are expected to arrive for the workshop on Monday. The conference is part of the Zone VI 2013-2018 strategic plan that seeks to drive the equal participation of women in sport at all levels. The conference to held under the theme, "Towards leadership, capacity development, equal access and opportunities for women in sports" will be officially opened by the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Shaw Kgathi. The chairperson of the Zone, Dr V Veli will also grace the event at Cresta Lodge. The conference will look into issues that have affected full participation of women in sport across the zone. It will also receive and consider viewpoints on the current trends in women's participation in sport in the developed world through researched presentations from experts.
