FRANCISTOWN: Softball giants, Phikwe Comets, are establishing themselves as the powerhouse in the northern zone after twice unseating traditional powerhouse, Rail Giants.

Comets beat Rail Giants two times last year at the Selebi-Phikwe Extravaganza tournament and in the BoFiNet Softball League first round games. Comets chairperson, Oeme Morupisi credited their rise to the improved facilities in the mining town.

“The team is doing well this year. We have won almost all of our games. Our boys are second and we have no doubt we will finish at the top. Our women’s team has finished their games in position one and they have qualified for the BoFiNet finals.
