Gaborone decries �falling� football standards

Former national Under-17 coach, Michael ‘Spokes’ Gaborone has said he is worried about the appalling general standard and quality of football in the country. Gaborone, who is also the deputy paramount Chief of Batlokwa, said nowadays coaches appear to be after money and do not give out what is really needed.

Speaking at Security Systems’ kit and new players unveiling at the club’s offices in Tlokweng yesterday, Gaborone said he was also worried that Tlokweng alone has many teams which are competing against each.

He added that the display on the field is way below par. He said it would have been much more convenient for Tlokweng to have one or two strong teams that can compete at the highest level. “However, Security Systems have done really well in their first season in the Premier League,” Gaborone said.
