Gaborone Hogs escaped from the scathing teeth of UB Rhinos as they walked away with a slim 18-17 victory during the A Division Rugby League match played on Saturday at Wharic Park.

Local rugby commentators had described the game as David and Goliath match up. Rhinos won a penalty in the second minute after a foul by Hogs backline. Kaelo Mogotsi failed to capitalise. The game started getting physical with Hogs pushing for a goal. They got a penalty in the seventh minute and Eddie Austeheinzen scored to put his side in the lead.

Hogs captain, Hugo Botha took a long run outpacing Rhinos defence, but his last touch let him down. Rhinos scored a try in the 21st minute by Shakes Katse and Kaelo Mogotsi scored the conversion. They went onto score another try, this time through Tefo Keothepile in the 34th minute. Katse then converted to increase Rhinos lead. By halftime, Rhinos were leading 14-3.
