Sowa hosts flagship women golf competition

For the first time, Sowa will host the annual Botswana Ladies' Close next weekend. Up to 50 golfers are expected to descend on the Central District town for the tournament.

The Botswana Gold Ladies' Union (BLGU) flagship tournament is held on a rotational basis by affiliate clubs.Sowa Golf Club will host this year's tournament that attracted two sponsors after Botswana Ash joined last year's financers, Liberty Life.Sowa Golf Club representative, Ntando Ramphetu said they had invited male golfers for the event."We are expecting 50 players and hoping more than half of that number will be ladies.

We have also extended the invitation to gentlemen golfers in the hope of creating a bigger platform for our sponsors," Ramphetu told Mmegi Sport.Botswana Ash, who run the annual Makgadikgadi Open is a partner in this year's Ladies' Close.Ramphetu said they hope to stage a good tournament and give the sponsors good mileage."We hope for continued sponsorships as a way of encouraging development and growth in the sport."
