Amidst the crisis at Mochudi Centre Chiefs, vultures had gathered for spoils as the future of players was increasingly uncertain.

However, the Kgatleng giants have moved swiftly to stop four player transfers that were done without the club's approval. Magosi have not had the best start to 2025 as they parted ways with investor and president, Jimmy Haskins Kereng of Prestige Funeral Parlour on January 5. It was a messy break-up, which threw the future of the players and technical staff into doubt, drawing vultures to immediately circle. But Magosi has swiftly moved to plug the gap created by Kereng's departure. Chiefs have inked a 15-year deal with Stanton Fredericks Sports Group.

Speaking to MmegiSport, Chiefs' spokesperson, Boraro Moseki, said the club was made aware that midfielders, Bakang Mpatane and Keitumetse 'Black-Ball' Samunzala were off to Township Rollers whilst Sua Flamingoes recruited the duo of Lebopo Moremi and Thami Zulu without Chiefs' consent. The quartet, however, remain contracted to Chiefs for at least until the end of the season but by Monday morning, their registrations were missing from the Chiefs' list in the FIFA Connect system. "We responded to the matter in a swift manner and we talked to both Sua and Rollers, and I am proud that the football lovers saw that they would not sabotage Chiefs in this manner. Sua has since cancelled the two transfers and Rollers have also returned the players and cancelled the transfers. It is an issue we have since reported to the BFA (Botswana Football Association) because we deemed the transfers as illegal and those involved did not even speak to the players. As things stand, we are waiting for the football leadership locally as to how they will react to this matter," Moseki said.

He further said all the five players on loan from both Rollers and Jwaneng Galaxy will return to Magosi after being recalled by their parent clubs following the emergence of the crisis. Chiefs have the duo of Kabelo Maphakela and Ototeng Dintwa on loan from Rollers for a season. In addition, Magosi also had the trio of Ryan Brown, Thatayaone Ramatlapeng, and Chico Molefe who joined on a year's loan from Galaxy. Moseki said all the players have begun training with Chiefs with the exception of Maphakela who was expected to report for duty on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, Seemo '16' Mpatane, has left Chiefs following the managerial change at the club. In the off-season, Mpatane took a giant leap as he joined Chiefs as an assistant coach on a one-year contract. He left his coaching role at Eleven Angels, a club he owns and has helped shape him into one of the best coaching prospects in the country

. Mpatane was elevated to the interim head coach role in December following the departure of Enosi Mmesi. In his four games in charge, Mpatane oversaw Chiefs' 3-2 defeat to GU and a 1-1 draw with champions, Galaxy, as he recorded a single win in a 4-0 trounce of Matebele FC. In his last game in charge, he led Chiefs to a 0-0 draw against old-time rivals, Township Rollers. "No, we are no longer with him (Seemo), he is gone. We are currently looking for a new head coach and we will announce in due time," Chiefs' chairperson, Victor Kobe told MmegiSport on Thursday.

Mpatane has been linked with champions, Galaxy who are said to be eyeing him for the assistant coach role. Galaxy has placed head coach, Morena Ramoreboli on a special leave as he is set to join the Zebras. The champions have elevated Blessing Moyo to be interim head coach whilst Mpatane is expected to be his assistant.
