Botswana’s export to the South African elite league, Thatayaone ‘TT’ Ditlhokwe, marked his return to the pitch after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to an injury when his side, Kaizer Chiefs, played Mamelodi Sundowns.
He featured in the thrilling Dstv Premiership match played yesterday after sustaining a shoulder injury towards the end of last year. He was injured while fulfilling his national duty in the qualifiers of FIFA World Cup. The towering defender, who is also the Zebras captain, returned straight into Chiefs first 11.
He last played for the Glamour boys in his first Soweto Derby on November 2023. Displaying tenacity, TT played for the whole 90 minutes. However, his comeback was not fairytale ending he had hoped for as Chiefs suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns who were then crowned the 2023/-2024 champions.
Sundowns clinched the league title for the seventh consecutive time after walloping Ditlhokwe’s Chiefs 5-1. TT, who is a stalwart in the Zebras team, will be crucial in the Didier Da Rosa’s team selection as the Zebras prepare to resume their World Cup qualifiers in the next month once the 2023/-2024 season comes to an end.
