The Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture, Tumiso Rakgare, has announced that there will be a financial audit conducted at Botswana Football Association (BFA).

Rakgare was speaking at a meet and greet session with the newly elected BFA president, Tariq Babitseng, at the Ministry headquarters on Monday afternoon. The two sport leaders met on Monday as Rakgare officially welcomed the new BFA boss to the local sporting scene. However, the pair did not reveal to the members of the press the content of their meeting.

Rakgare, however, when fielding questions from the journalists said a financial report would be conducted at the Lekidi Football Centre. He also said it has been in discussion between the ministry and Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC) to have a track record of how finances are being allocated across national sport associations. "The BNSC and PS (Ministry's Permanent Secretary) have been in discussions and we should see if things are done in a proper manner. This is not about the individuals or the moment but we should occasionally be up to date on how things are done in a proper manner because every now and then we should submit a report to the relevant offices. This is just to enable us to know how the finances are being used," said Rakgare.
