The Mares' attacking duo of Lesego Radiakanyo and Refilwe Tholakele has been nominated for the CAF Women's Player of the Year award.

The two players were instrumental in the Mares' maiden Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualification. Radiakanyo was the team's top goalscorer in the qualifiers with four goals while Tholakele netted three.

They were both influential in the Mares' WAFCON debut match against Burundi played on Monday. Tholakele scored a brace while Radiakano scored a goal in the 4-2 win.

For the most prized individual player accolade in the continent, the two players are up against Nigeria's Asisat Oshoala, South Africans Andile Dlamini and Relifoe Jane, and Grace Chanda of Zambia. Radiakanyo and Tholakele are expected to be in the starting line-up tomorrow as the Mares take on Nigeria.
