Lydia Tlhakanelo was honoured as the Sportswoman of the Year with Disabilities, showcasing her resilience and strength in overcoming challenges to excel in her sport. The HeForShe award was presented to Ofentse Bakwadi, highlighting his support and advocacy for gender equality in sports. Bakwadi's commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity in the sports industry is commendable and deserving of recognition. Dorothy Okashi was celebrated as the Woman Umpire of the Year, showcasing her expertise and professionalism in officiating sports events.
Anita Rannoba was recognised as the Sports Journalist of the Year, showcasing her talent and dedication to covering women's sports. Motlalepula was named the TV Sports Journalist of the Year, while Neo ‘Skilo’ Aabobe received the Radio Sports Journalist of the Year award. Kennedy Ramokone was honored as the Sports Journalist of the Year in photography, highlighting his skill in capturing the essence of sports through his lens. The event served as a reminder of the importance of recognising and supporting female athletes, administrators, journalists, and officials in their pursuit of excellence.
The Minister of Youth, Gender, Sports and Culture, Tumiso Rakgare graced the event. He highlighted that this is a great opportunity to promote the importance of women's sports and recognise the achievements of female athletes. He also stated that sport is an important part of culture and society and it is inspiring to see the incredible achievements of women in sports.
