Honey, give me wings.

So recently my husband brought us some wings from an establishment that a lot of us grew up knowing and still visit here and there. I had such a laugh because his meal was short of just one wing, than stipulated on their menu. Suffice it to say, the man was not happy, whatsoever.

When he passionately lamented as to how he couldn’t possibly drive back to the establishment for that one wing, I couldn’t help but be tickled.

He is not one to name and shame on social media, so the said establishment (they know themselves) better do right by other patrons premised on this kindness afforded by my ‘one wing short’ hubby..lol. I have said previously that I love wings in their variety of tossings, but also enjoy them in their most simple form. Honey glazed sticky wings can be prepped either in the oven or on stove top.

Personally, it depends on my mood and how much time I want to spend in the kitchen. Stove top is slightly faster than the oven. However the advantage of the oven is that it is healthier as it uses less oil. The Air fryer is said to be the much healthier option to use in the kitchen. I look forward to unboxing my air fryer and reviewing some meals to see if they are as good as when prepared traditionally. Tota hela, I don’t know why I am delaying trying it out. I would love to hear from some of your air fryer experiences on our Chellzkitchen FB page. Perhaps that will be my confidence boost.

My better half swears by anything that has an element of honey in it. Once in a while, he remembers years ago when a Filipino friend invited him over to their parents’ place and they were serving Sweet pork, which he says he was apprehensive about until he tasted and just couldn’t get enough. Later in life, he found out that the pork was so mind blowing because it was basted with honey and he has never looked back since. Let us know how you prefer your wings on our Chellzkitchen FB page and share images as well.

INGREDIENTS

• Chicken wings

• Onion powder

• Garlic powder

• Paprika • Cornstarch

• Salt & paper • Maldon salt

• Olive oil

• Honey

• Soy sauce

• Garlic

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Line a shallow baking tin with parchment paper and set aside. Add wings to a large mixing bowl and add corn starch, oil, salt, pepper and your seasoning of choice. Evenly coat the wings and drizzle honey over them, making sure they are all nicely marinated in it. Put them in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes, flipping them over and drizzling a bit of honey on them at the 25th minute mark. Create a sauce from the same ingredients that were in the mixing bowl inclusive of the honey. This can be prepped easily in the microwave in under two minutes. Once the wings are out of the oven, brush over them using your sauce and place back in the oven for 3-5 minutes. Remove the wings and drizzle the slightest bit of sauce over them and toss. Enjoy with nature’s garden frozen chips or veggies. As a side dip for your wings, put two table spoons of Nutriday plain yogurt in a small bowl and mix together with a pinch of salt, black pepper and parsley.
